Norfolk, Virginia : Injury Lawyer Report:New Interstate Traffic Signs on the Highways of Hampton Roads.
In Summer 2012, VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) will implement a way so travelers will know approximate arrival times to many areas in Hampton Roads. The signs that normally show information about congestion, and bridge openings will now also show approximate arrival time, depending on which highway and which direction.
The data will be accumulated from GPS devices and roadway detectors and converted to the travel time. They will then be frequently sent to the signs on highways 64, 264 and 664.At the moment, the system is already being successfully used in Northern Virginia on Interstate 66. The new system will be implemented in phases beginning in Summer 2012 through Spring 2013.
This will be a great new change for families and friends driving all over the Hampton Roads area, especially those going to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. There are more accidents in the summer months of June through August than any other time of year. This is because there is more traffic on the highways from people vacationing and just going out enjoying the hot weather. The summer fun can sadly be cut short to anyone who is involved in a car accident.
