Norfolk Injury Lawyer Produces New Video on Mirena Dangers
The IUD birth control device Mirena has become more popular in recent years. There has also been an upsurge in lawsuits as more and more women report alarming side effects from the contraceptive.
In this video I talk about some of those problems and how you can obtain help if you find yourself subject to some of these terrifying complications. Earlier this year I reported on an American Association of Justice seminar on the side-effects of Mirena.
There have been numerous media reports about the dangers of Mirena, as well as other birth control drugs and devices such as Yaz and Yasmin.
A NewsChannel5 investigation in Ohio noticed numerous concerns about the safety of this popular form of birth control. It said there are currently 2 million women using the Mirena intrauterine device (IUD).
NewsChannel5 investigators obtained complaint records from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that pointed to 70,072 complaints about the Mirena IUD since 2000.
Since 2008, 4,775 women reported “device dislocation.” This includes the painful complication in which the IUD becomes embedded in the uterus, moving from its initial placement at the top of the uterine cavity, or an IUD that has completely migrated outside the uterus, according the FDA.
The complaint reports also found 1,322 women have reported uterine perforations since 2008. These are some very serious health issues. If you find yourself in such a predicament, you should consider contacting a personal injury lawyer to file a products liability lawsuit.
