Portsmouth Truck Accident Injury Lawyer Report : Woman is Killed when Tractor Trailer Overturns in Northern Virginia
A tragic accident in northern Virginia in which a tractor trailer swerved to avoid backed up traffic has claimed the life of a woman from northern Virginia, according to reports.
Sharon Tate, 47, of Alexandria was driving a Ford Escape south on I-81 when she saw a traffic jam before her because of a lane closure for bridge construction at the 86 mile marker.
“A tractor trailer, unable to break in time, swerved to the left to avoid plowing into stopped traffic and overturned onto its side in the median, police say,” according to WTOP.com.
The channel reported the truck hit Ms. Tate’s car and forced it into the back of another tractor trailer.
The 45-year-old driver of the tractor trailer that caused the wreck from Ashburn, VA was later charged with reckless driving.
My thoughts as an experienced Portsmouth truck accident injury lawyer are with the family of Ms. Tate. In a case where a big rig driver fails to slow down in time to avoid traffic congestion, the family of the deceased woman would likely have grounds to bring a wrongful death lawsuit.
All too often excess speed a lack of concentration combine to cause accidents on the roads of Virginia. When a tractor trailer is involved, the consequences are likely to be more serious.
