Virginia State Police said at about 1:55 p.m. on July 12, 2012, the Chevy was carrying glass cases, when one fell out of the truck bed and hit the highway, WSLS10 reported.
Two cars behind the truck managed to swerve and miss the case. The second car, a Mercury minivan, had to drive into the median, to take evasive action.
Then a Ford F-150 pick-up truck pulling a horse trailer, missed the glass case, but struck the first car. The impact of the accident spun the horse trailer around and it crashed into the minivan.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt. The driver of the Avalanche, Melissa Heights of Roanoke was charged with failure to secure a load.
