Passenger is Killed After Car Crosses Median and Hits Police Car on Tidewater Drive in Norfolk, Two Injured
A Head-on crash early this morning on Tidewater Drive in Norfolk left one dead, and injured a police officer and another person.
The crash occurred at about 4:30 a.m. in the 6200 block of Tidewater Drive, said Chris Amos, a Norfolk police spokesman.
The Virginian-Pilot reported a police officer was going south on Tidewater Drive and was in the far right lane “when a Honda going north crossed the median and hit the officer’s vehicle.”

A woman who was in the Honda died at the scene and a man, who is believed to be the driver, was taken to a hospital with injuries that “may be life-threatening,” the newspaper reported. The police officer, who was driving a marked vehicle, was also taken to the hospital after the crash. His injuries are reported to be non life-threatening.
The accident blocked off Tidewater Driver from Widgeon Road to Norview Avenue.
As a Norfolk car accident injury lawyer, my thoughts are with the family of the woman who lost her life. When a passenger is killed through no fault of his or her own, family members may have grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit.
