Norfolk Man Charged with Hit and Run
An out of state man died Saturday, March 7, 2009, when his motorcycle flew out of control into an oncoming car. The car’s driver walked away from the scene, after 30 minutes he returned after his passenger, who stayed behind, convinced him to come back, said Officer Chris Amos, police spokesman.
Police charged Eric Anthony Allen, 25, of the 1300 block of MacDonald Road, Chesapeake, with violating a fatal hit-and-run accident law. By law, the driver is required to stop and attempt to render aid.
Police said Julio Angel Rivera, 24, of Metairie, La., exited Interstate 264 on his Suzuki motorcycle onto westbound Brambleton Avenue “at a high rate of speed. ” Rivera lost control at the bottom of the ramp and hit the median. He was killed on impact, when he and his became airborne and hit a car in the opposite lane.
Allen was also charged with driving on a revoked license.
