Norfolk Injury Lawyer John Cooper Presents Award to Local Journalist
Norfolk injury lawyer John Cooper of the Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, has presented an award to a Virginia journalist on behalf of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
John presented the Excellence in Journalism award to Louis Hansen of the Virginian-Pilot last week. Lois earned the award after writing a story about a woman who risked life and limb to expose gang members.
“It was an incredible piece of journalism,” said John, who is on the board of governors of the VTLA. Hansen received an honorable mention for his article in 2012.
“We try at the VTLA and at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers to keep our finger on the pulse about good journalism about law issues,” said John.
“Louis Hansen did an excellent job of really bringing home the bravery of this woman who testified against some pretty scary people and ended up causing justice to be done,” he said.
The VTLA has about 2,200 members across the Commonwealth, representing clients in a large number of practice areas. The vast majority of its members own or work in small to midsized firms and spend much of their time in the courtrooms litigating cases.
