Motorcyclist is in a Critical Condition After Being Hit by an SUV on Virginia Beach Boulevard

A Harley Davidson motorcyclist suffered critical injuries in Virginia Beach on the same day as a scooter rider was killed in Norfolk.

This serious crash in Virginia Beach occurred on Tuesday, June 03, 2014 at approximately 11:13 a.m. in the 4600 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard at the intersection of Corporate Park Lane, police said.
The press release from Virginia Beach Police Department said a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Virginia Beach Boulevard approaching Independence Boulevard.
An Acura SUV was making an attempt to cross Virginia Beach Boulevard southbound from Second Street to Corporate Park Lane. The SUV made it safely across westbound lanes where it stopped at the median, waiting for eastbound traffic to clear to get onto Corporate Park Lane.
“The SUV proceeded southbound through the eastbound lanes of Virginia Beach Boulevard. Upon doing so it crossed into the path of the motorcycle which impacted the passenger side of the SUV,” stated the police press release
I was saddened to read the motorcyclist has been was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
The 49-year-old driver of the SUV from Providence Place in Virginia Beach has been charged with Failure to Yield.
