Motor Vehicle Insurance: What You Need to Know (Part 2)
What is medical payment coverage?
Medical payment coverage is called various names such as medical benefit coverage or medical expense coverage. This coverage allows for repayment of medical bills when you are injured in a motor vehicle accident. Medical payment coverage can help you get reimbursed for any medical bills associated with an injury from a motor vehicle accident, regardless of who is at fault for the accident. You pay for this coverage so use it.
Please note that this medical payment coverage applies even if you have health insurance coverage that pays the majority of your medical bills and, unfortunately, many people do not even know they have this coverage. As such, they never inquire about possible reimbursement of their medical bills.
If you have multiple vehicles on your policy then the number of vehicles will multiply this medical expense coverage pursuant to the number of vehicles on the policy. So if you have five vehicles on the policy and you have $1,000 of medical payment coverage, you have a total of up to $5,000 that you can be reimbursed for your medical bills.
