Speed Is Cited as a Factor as Crash Kills Passenger Amber Rose Fayette Lewis in Norfolk
A high speed crash on Chesapeake Boulevard in Norfolk has claimed the life of a woman and left two men injured.
The Virginian-Pilot reported the three were traveling south in the 5700 block of Chesapeake Boulevard when their car swerved to avoid hitting a van that pulled into the roadway at about 11 a.m. on March 13, police said.
The car and van were involved in a collision and the car flipped over after hitting a median. I’m sad to report a female passenger in the car died of her injuries soon after arrival at Sentara Norfolk Hospital. She was later identified as Amber Rose Fayette Lewis. My thoughts as a Norfolk personal injury lawyer are with her family.

Two men including the driver of the car, were injured at the scene. Nobody in the van was hurt. Norfolk police spokesman Chris Amos said speed appears to have been a factor in this crash.
This accident is yet another reminder of how your ability to react to situations is affected by excess speed. As a Norfolk wrongful death lawyer, I have seen many cases in which the family of a dead passenger has grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the insurance company of an at-fault driver. This accident also raises a question as to whether the van driver would be liable for the wreck.
