Emergency services were called to the single-car wreck on Jefferson Avenue on Monday afternoon, reported the Daily Press.
The wreck occurred in Southeastern Newport News One person was killed and two people are in critical condition following a single-car accident Monday afternoon on Jefferson Avenue in Newport News between 12th and 16th streets.
Newport News Police Department said three people were in the Toyota Camry at the time of the fatal wreck. A male occupant was declared dead at the accident scene. Firefighters extracted three people from the badly mangled car,
Two other occupants of the car were transported to Hampton Roads hospitals with critical injuries. A male occupant was transported via a Nightingale helicopter. A woman in the car was transported by ambulance.
Jefferson Avenue was closed in both directions between 12th Street and 16th Street as a crash team from Newport News Police Department investigated the single-car wreck on Jefferson Avenue.
