Parties Reach $775,000 Settlement for Injuries Sustained in I-95 Lane Change Crash

Hasty lane changes can often be the cause of serious car accidents. Recently a husband and wife who suffered life-changing injuries in a crash caused by a lane change driver, were awarded $775,000.
Virginia Lawyers Weekly reported on how in the spring of 2012, a husband and a wife were heading southbound on I-95 in Fairfax County when another driver tried to change lanes to his left. He hit the plaintiff’s vehicle and sent it into a Jersey wall.
The defendant contested liability during a subsequent court hearing. He claimed the plaintiff moved right into his lane. However, injury lawyers acting for the plaintiff obtained statements from witnesses that identified the defendant as being the at-fault driver. Although a report from a Virginia State Police trooper at the scene did not fully corroborate the plaintiff’s claims, it was supported by physical evidence, reported Virginia Lawyers Weekly.
“Both plaintiffs had very slow, rocky recoveries and spent weeks and months in hospitals and rehab facilities,” reported Virginia Lawyers Weekly.
They have since made significant recoveries but are yet to recover totally, the report stated.
The case was settled for $775,000. The attorney for the plaintiffs was Jerome H. Jaffe of The Jaffe Law Firm, Vienna, VA.
