North Carolina Boating Accident Injury Lawyer Report – Woman is Killed in Southport, NC Boating Accident
A fatal boating accident in North Carolina (NC) has again highlighted how quickly fun on the water can turn to tragedy.
Barbara Pierce, 57, was killed when a boat piloted by her husband Eric Pierce hit a concrete pillar on a dock near Battery Island in Southport, NC, WWAY3 reported.
The two were having a dinner party with friends when the boat crashed.
All four were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where Barbara Pierce died from injuries she suffered in the boating accident.
Although alcohol was found at the scene, the Wildlife Commission said it did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Alarmingly, none of the passengers were wearing a life vest.
As an experienced Virginia Beach boating accident injury attorney I see too many boating accidents and drownings every summer in the Tidewater area of Virginia as well as in the waterways of North Eastern North Carolina. In many cases basic safety precautions have been ignored.
In June 2012, I reported on the Virginia Beach accident injury attorneys site how boaters and marina staff were injured in an explosion at a marina in Virginia Beach.
