Sadly, a driver has died in such a crash in Newport News, VA.
Police said a 67-year-old man from York County, VA man died on May 2, 2012 after being involved in a crash involving three cars close to the intersection of Middle Ground Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue, in Newport News, the Daily Press reported.
The man who died in a local hospital was Gerald Lee Fisher. Newport News police spokeswoman Holly McPherson said he was traveling north on Jefferson Avenue in an Isuzu pickup, when he rear ended a Toyota as it slowed down to stop.
The impact caused the Toyota to hit the back of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, police said.
“The female driver of the Toyota had an injury to her forehead and was treated at the scene by medics,” said McPherson in a press release.
Police say alcohol was not a factor in this accident. It appears a moment of carelessness by a driver may have ended his life, unless there was another explanation such as a medical condition.
