Sgt. Michelle Anaya of Virginia State Police said state troopers originally received a call from James City County shortly after noon on August 27, 2012. Police said an officer on Interstate 64 was in pursuit of a pickup truck. Anaya said the driver was “wanted and considered armed and dangerous,” WAVY.com reported.
State police said the driver lost control when he left the interstate at mile marker 64, in Newport News. The 47-year-old driver crashed into a Mercedes as well as a trooper’s cruiser at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Fort Eustis Boulevard in Newport News.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital with head and hip injuries. The driver of the Mercedes was also injured.
When a driver is hurt due to the excess speed or recklessness of another driver there’s a clear case for a claim to be made against the other driver’s insurance policy.
