Motorcyclist, 25 is Killed in a Collision with a Tractor Trailer in Newport News
A 25-year-old motorcyclist has been killed in an accident involving a tractor trailer in Newport News, VA.
The rider was killed on the morning of January 3, 2012, after colliding with a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Warwick Boulevard and Enterprise Drive, the Daily Press reported.
According to the Newport News Police Department, the rider was traveling southbound on Warwick Boulevard on a 2000 Honda motorcycle when he hit the back of the tractor-trailer as he entered the intersection. The tractor-trailer was turning left onto Enterprise Drive from northbound Warwick Boulevard, police say.

Although the tractor trailer was no longer at the scene at about 6:15 a.m., police spokeswoman Holly McPherson said the driver may not have been aware of the accident. Police believe they have located the tractor trailer.
The motorcyclist was declared dead less than an hour after the crash.
My thoughts as an experienced Newport News motorcycle accident injury lawyer are with the family of the dead motorcyclist.
It’s unclear which driver was at fault at present. It’s common for truck and automobile drivers to fail to notice motorcyclists when they make a turn. If this was the case here, the family of the motorcyclist could have grounds to bring a wrongful death case.
I have represented clients in a number of wrongful death cases against truck drivers and trucking companies, including a $3.5 million settlement for the family of a man who lost his life in a crash involving a truck in Norfolk, VA.
