Lexus Hits a Tree in Powhatan County, VA Killing Three
A 53-year-old driver faces charges after his Lexus slammed into a tree in Powhatan, Virginia, and killed three people.
The triple fatal accident occurred at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. The driver hit a tree close to Powhatan High School on Anderson Highway.
According to reports, charges are likely to be filed against the driver but they won’t be brought until his condition improves. He has serious injuries.
His three passengers lost their lives. My thoughts as a Virginia car accident lawyer, is with the families of the deceased.
Two of the deceased passengers from the single vehicle accident have been identified as 62-year-old Joan Middleton and 73-year-old Shirley Smothers.
The accident is just the latest in a series of major wrecks in Virginia that have caused a considerable loss of life. In April 2013, five people were killed in a two car wreck on I-95 in Brunswick County, VA.
When a driver causes the deaths of passengers in an auto wreck, close family members of the deceased can often make a wrongful death claim to cover the loss of their loved ones.
