Head-on Collision Causes Death, Injuries in Amherst County, VA
Two accidents claimed the lives of residents of Halifax County, Virginia (VA) on the same day.
Jerrel Good, 48, died from injuries he received during a head-on collision in a three-vehicle wreck on Dec. 16, 2011 on Route 151 in Amherst County, the Gazette Virginian reported.
According to an accident report filed by a state trooper, a 28-year-old was driving a 1990 Nissan pickup headed in the opposite direction to the victim’s Volkswagen Jetta when the two vehicles struck head-on.
The pickup driven by the 28-year-old then hit a third vehicle, a 2003 Nissan Altima driven by a 71-year-old from Amherst.
Mr. Good’s wife and a three-year-old child, who were passengers in the car, were also injured.
As experienced Virginia (VA) accident injury attorneys our thoughts are with the victims of this terrible crash.
Although police are still investigating this accident, when two vehicles are in a head-on collision, one of the drivers is almost always at fault. In October 2011, a motorcyclist was killed when a dump truck crossed a center line and hit him in Russell County, VA.

Excess speed can cause a vehicle to cross a median and this is more likely to happen in wet conditions. If a vehicle has crossed a line the driver could face criminal charges and a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit.
Tragically this crash was not the only one to claim the life of a Halifax County, VA resident on Dec.16, 2011.
Later that night Jahnell L. Hammonds, 30, of South Boston, VA died in a single vehicle accident on Wilkins Road (State Route 699), close to Route 58, according police.
According to an accident report Hammonds’ Nissan Maxima, ran off the road to the right; she overcorrected and then ran off the road to the left overturning and hitting a tree.
