Victim is Awarded $300,000 Settlement Against VA Red Light Runner
As experienced Hampton injury lawyers, we see many cases in which drivers run red lights, a major factor behind the installation of red light enforcement cameras in Newport News, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake.
But a case in Loudoun County, Virginia was shocking even by the standards of red light running. The victim was recently awarded $300,000 in a settlement, as reported in Virginia Lawyers Weekly.
In this case a van driver, who was an employee of Christos Building Services, shot through an intersection at a speed estimated to be about 55 mph by investigators in November 2009.
The van driver also went through a red light, smashing into a Mini Cooper on the intersection of Nokes Blvd. and Atlantic Blvd. The unfortunate victim suffered a concussion, multiple head and facial injuries and fractures to his humerus, according to the report. The accident left him with a permanent impairment to his arm. The van driver was found guilty of reckless driving.
This case is a shocking one. We fight for justice for many victims of red light runners, who suffer similar kinds if injuries.
My congratulations go to the attorney for the plaintiff, William R.F. Conners.
