Ghent in Norfolk Hosts First Annual Bastille Days
As members of the Ghent Business Association, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers always welcome festivals and community activities in the historic streets of Ghent, where we are headquartered.
It’s particularly encouraging to see new festivals such as the First Annual Bastille Days which is being held in the Colley Avenue area on July 11 and July 12.
The festival includes Can Can dancers, street performers, a mock guillotine, Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, a tricycle Tour de Ghent, a waiters race and French food.
The opening ceremony takes place at 6 p.m. on July 11 and features Norfolk mayor Paul Fraim and French Honorary Consul Nicolas Valcour. Don’t forget to pick up your “passport” of special promotions and sales among Ghent’s eclectic shops and restaurants.
The fun on Saturday starts at 10 a.m. on the patio of Noodles and Co. with children’s activities. The event is presented by the Ghent Business Association in cooperation with Alliance Francaise.
The GBA has been in existence for more than 50 years. It is a nonprofit organization managed by a volunteer board of directors.
Check out the GBA’s web page on Bastille Days for more information and a timetable on the festival.
