Cooper Hurley Supports Golf Tournament to Raise Money for Education in Haiti
Haiti is one of the world’s most impoverished countries. The basics we take for granted such as education, sanitation and clean water are lacking in many parts of the country.
Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers is playing a small part in making a difference. We are a sponsor of a golf tournament on May 2 at Honey Bee Golf Course in Virginia Beach on May 2 which supports the Catholic Diocese of Richmond’s Haitian Education Fund.
The fund works to improve the standard of education on the Central Plateau in Haiti. Its mission is to promote and sustain the education of teachers and children in Haiti in tandem with partners including the Diocese of Hinche and parishes participating in the twinning program of the Diocese of Richmond.
Funds raised from the golf tournament will be used for teacher training, the supervision of teachers and assistance in improving the education of the children in the Central Plateau of Haiti.
Haiti has a gross national income per capita of just $660, about half the total for Nicaragua, the second poorest country in the Americas. Almost 80 percent of Haitians live below the poverty line, defined as living on less than $2 a day and 54 percent live in extreme poverty, which is less than $1 a day.
Cooper Hurley also supported a golf tournament at Sewells Point Golf Course in Norfolk to raise money for Haiti last year. Our Norfolk based personal injury lawyers support many good causes in the community every year. We can be contacted at 757.455.0077 or see CooperHurley.com.
