Recently I presented a check for $2,000 to the Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia, a nonprofit that is close to my heart.
Catholic Charities has a headquarters in Virginia Beach and works with underprivileged people across Hampton Roads, irrespective of their denomination.
Catholic Charities provides counseling for people and families under stress, and offers programs of education and prevention for strengthening family life. The agency also advocates improvements in social conditions for individuals, families, the elderly and children.
CEO Chris Tan said: “We have been in this community since 1932. We help people in all stages of life, from infancy to senior citizens. We provide adoption services; we provide pregnancy counselling; we provide guardianship services for senior citizens. We provide financial and housing counseling for those who have fallen on hard times,” he said.
Catholic charities also provides mental health counselling that focuses on the poor. It partners with organizations across Hampton Roads to help the needy.
I am always happy to support this great cause. Follow this link to make a donation to Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia.
