Chesapeake Auto Accident Lawyer Report : Woman Receives $100,000 in Wrongful Death Case over Chesapeake Car Crash
A woman from North Carolina has received $100,000 in settlement of a wrongful death lawsuit against a driver she blames for the death of her husband.
The amount was limited by the amount of available insurance, an issue I have written about on a number of occasions as a Chesapeake auto accident lawyer.
The Virginian-Pilot reported on the settlement that was made to Helen Cherry over the death of her 58-year-old husband Theodore in Chesapeake in 2011.

“Only $25,000 of the settlement came from the insurance of Daniel Morrison – a former deputy with the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office who fell asleep behind the wheel after spending 24 hours awake,” reported the Pilot.
The rest of the sum came from the underinsured motorist provisions of two other car insurance policies.
The Pilot reported Morrison, who is from Chesapeake, pleaded guilty last year over the fatal wreck and was sentenced to six months in jail.
Morrison fell asleep and crossed a line on South Battlefield Boulevard near Hanbury Road and hit the car being driven by the Cherrys. Helen Cherry was also injured. The attorney for Ms. Cherry was Philp Geib.
I have written about the scourge of drowsy driving in Virginia on a number of occasions. If you feel tired when you are driving you should pull over and rest or drink a coffee. If you ignore the warning signs you could be involved in a crash that will run your life and those of other road users.
