Big Rig Overturns, Injuring Driver on Route 460 in Suffolk, VA
A truck driver has been injured in Suffolk when his big rig overturned on Route 460 after running off the roadway. It’s not clear why the tractor trailer left Route 460 near Gardner Lane. It overturned and hit a Dominion Virginia Power light pole, WAVY.com reported.
The driver injured in the single vehicle crash. He was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital.
The City of Suffolk reported traffic was alternated eastbound and westbound as crews worked to remove the tractor-trailer and made repairs. Around noon, the city said said they stopped alternating traffic, however, one lane in each direction remains closed.
Suffolk is the scene of numerous truck crashes. Last month the driver of a U.S. Postal Service truck was airlifted to a local hospital after a two vehicle crash on Wilroy Road in Suffolk.
Route 460 sees many of these serious truck accidents. Last year a major accident involving two tractor trailers and six cars on Route 460 (Pruden Boulevard) left one driver dead and a number of other people injured.
Today’s accident could have been so much worse if other vehicles had been in the vicinity. If you have been hurt in an accident involving a tractor trailer you may have suffered serious injuries. Call our Suffolk tractor trailer accident lawyers for a free consultation at 757.455.0077.
