Another Pedestrian is Hit By a Car and Injured on Norfolk’s Tidewater Drive
Tidewater Drive in Norfolk is a fast urban highway with an alarming record of pedestrian accidents.
Sadly, yet another pedestrian has been hit by a car and injured on Tidewater Drive, WAVY.com reported. The woman has been treated for life-threatening injuries. She was struck by a car at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday on Tidewater Drive near Biltmore Road, according to Chris Amos with the Norfolk Police Department.
Police said the driver of the car remained on the scene. The WAVY report said no charges have yet been filed.
Earlier this year a man in wheelchair was hit and killed on a crosswalk on Tidewater Drive. The man was killed in the 5600 block of Tidewater Drive. Local residents told a TV station many drivers were not stopping for pedestrians on the crosswalk and seemed oblivious to those on foot.
Even the most safety conscious pedestrians cannot protect themselves against every negligent driver. If you are hit in a crosswalk, the fault of a driver is especially clear. There are clear rules in Virginia about the responsibilities of drivers when they approach crosswalks.
Even if you are not hit on a crosswalk you may be entitled to seek compensation for your injuries.
