New Attorney Bailey Gifford Joins Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers

Bailey Gifford

Bailey Gifford has always wanted to help people. Recently, she got the chance when she joined Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers as our newest attorney.

Bailey joined our rapidly-growing Norfolk-based injury firm in late 2020. She was born in Nebraska and raised in Kentucky. She graduated with honors from Central Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

She was attracted to Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers after reading the firm’s great reviews and hearing about its extensive involvement in the Hampton Roads community. “Cooper Hurley Injury Layers stood out to me because of the great client testimonials and their extensive community outreach. I was really looking for a job where I could make a difference and be an active member of the community,” she said.

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers supports scores of great causes and non-profits in the community every year. Bailey will play an important part in our outreach efforts.

Bailey graduated magna cum laude from Morehead State University in Kentucky. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with an emphasis in Business in 2016.

Bailey went on to the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, VA, where she obtained her J.D. in 2020. She played an active role and served as president of the Student Bar Association. Bailey also served as a Student Ambassador and participated as a member of both the mock trial and moot court teams at the law school.

“I was elected by my classmates to serve as President of the Student Bar Association during my last year of law school,” Bailey said. “The SBA oversees the governance of student organizations, coordinates community service events, and serves as a liaison between the student body and administration. My favorite parts were being able to give back to the community and serve as an advocate for my classmates.”

She also clerked for The Honorable Elizabeth A. McClanahan, formerly of the Supreme Court of Virginia, as well as for a private law firm in Grundy.

“My job primarily consisted of legal research. I also had the opportunity to attend oral arguments. Justice McClanahan was a joy to work for and I learned so much from her,” Bailey said.

Bailey loves to explore the Hampton Roads area with her husband, Kaleb. Bailey said she is happy to be able to help people in her first job as an attorney. Bailey has not let the COVID-19 pandemic derail her promising legal career. She was sworn in virtually by the Virginia State Bar this month.

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has grown rapidly from a partnership of veteran lawyers John Cooper and Jim Hurley in less than a decade. The firm now has eight attorneys and one ‘of counsel.’
