We are pleased to announce Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has won the Virginian-Pilot’s award for the Best Law Firm in Norfolk for the third year in a row. We also won the newspaper’s award for the Best Law Firm in Virginia Beach for the first time.

The Virginian-Pilot’s Best of Awards are in their 27th year. They have become an important accolade for local businesses across Hampton Roads over almost three decades. The awards which were formerly known as The Virginian-Pilot‘s People’s Choice Awards allow members of the public to nominate and vote for their favorite businesses. With just under 200 categories in each city, there are many ways for businesses to promote their offerings and encourage readers to vote for them. This year the competition combined contests from The Virginian-Pilot, Daily Press, and Virginia Gazette to maximize exposure across Hampton Roads and beyond. The winners were included in a special edition of the Virginian-Pilot on Aug. 22 and 23.
Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has grown rapidly since the firm was set up in Norfolk in 2011 by experienced injury lawyers John Cooper and Jim Hurley. The firm now has eight lawyers and one ‘of counsel/ lawyer. The attorneys and staff have deep roots in the Hampton Roads community. We represent people who are hurt in automobile accidents, the families of wrongful death victims, and people hurt by dangerous drugs and products. We help railroad workers who end up injured on the job and people who suffer traumatic brain injuries.
Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers is active in supporting many great causes across the community every year. Through our Distracted Driving Awareness Scholarships we give awards of $2,000 to four local students and one national student every year. We recently handed out awards to five students in time for the 2020-21 academic year.
We have supported a host of great causes in recent years including the American Heart Association, The Southside STEM Academy of Campostella, ForKids, the Brain Injury Association of Virginia, Blankets for the Homeless, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, and the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia. The firm gives former clients, friends, supporters, and others the chance to take part in competitions such as our annual Thanksgiving turkey raffle.
Although we value awards, the firm’s main focus is helping people who have been hurt by others through no fault of their own, whether by a drunken driver on I-64, a careless store owner who leaves trip hazards on the floor, a tired trucker, or a big drug company. Our motto “Your Injury, Our Fight!” Is as relevant in 2020 as it was back in 2011.
