As experienced Suffolk injury attorneys, our thoughts are with those hurt in this terrible crash and those who have lost a child.
Certain types of vehicles such as SUVs are susceptible to rollover crashes. In 2004, 10,553 people died in rollover crashes, according to saferoads.org.
“Rollover crashes represent 3 percent of all collisions and yet account for 31 percent of occupant fatalities,” the site stated.
The site pointed out SUVs and small pickup trucks, are more likely to rollover than other types of vehicles.
“At present, the federal government has not established any performance standards to require improved vehicle stability to reduce the incidence of rollovers. In addition, current vehicle crash protection requirements do not adequately protect against the types of serious injuries most often associated with rollover crashes,” the site stated.
If the crash was caused by a design fault or a defect such as a faulty tire, a defective products lawsuit could be brought against the vehicle or tire manufacturer for injuries and deaths caused in this tragic crash.
