Common Mistakes People Make When Negotiating with Insurance
Video Transcript
Often times we’ll help people out 3, 6 months after the accident happened and the way that happens is oftentimes those people say, “Well I’m just going to go ahead and deal directly with the insurance company, the insurance company contacted me right away for the other person that caused my injuries, and they said ‘we’re going to be fair, you don’t need a lawyer why go ahead and get a lawyer we’ll be fair with you’” and then so they try to negotiate their own case.
And what happens is, they’re not used to negotiating with the insurance company in regards to the full value of their case: the lost wages, the medical bills, the medical treatment, the pain, the suffering, the inconvenience, how their life was changed. And the insurance companies, at the end of the day, take advantage of people that don’t have lawyers. And there’s studies that prove if you have a lawyer, you’re going to put more money in your pocket at the end of the day.
So that’s one of the main reasons, is because of the fact insurance companies aren’t going to properly pay what they should pay to those people if they don’t have a lawyer. You can always get a lawyer even if you haven’t had one in the beginning, but if you’ve signed a release with the insurance company, then the lawyer can’t really do a lot. But if you haven’t signed the release, then a lawyer can still help you, so we encourage you to touch base with a lawyer here at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers. We’re always willing to chat with you about what your situation is. [jingle] No need to worry, call Cooper Hurley. The Car Crash Experts. 333-3333.
