NORFOLK, VA —March 11, 2026: Now in its sixth year, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers’ Vote for a Cause contest asks Hampton Roads residents to nominate their favorite local organizations to receive sizeable donations from the Norfolk-based personal injury law firm each Spring. This year, the top three organizations who receive the most votes from community members via voteforacause.com will win total of $17,500. Hampton Roads-based non-profits, sports teams, and faith-based organizations are eligible to win.
The first-place winner will receive a $10,000 donation from The Car Crash Experts in May. Second and third-place winners will receive $5,000 and $2,500, respectively. Since the inaugural contest in 2020, Vote for a Cause winners have been able to utilize their donations at their discretion.
“Without our clients and our community, there is no Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers,” says founding and managing partner, Jim Hurley. “Vote for a Cause is one of the many ways we like to give back and say ‘Thank You’ to fellow organizations who are committed to helping those in need.”
With over 700 organizations nominated and 8,800 votes cast in 2025, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers expects an even greater turnout in 2026.
As in previous years, the voting process is simple. Hampton Roads residents can nominate or vote for their favorite organizations at voteforacause.com between March 31 and May 12. One vote per Hampton Roads resident (aged 18+) is allowed. The winners will be announced on May 15 via Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers’ Facebook page.
To help nominees galvanize support, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers is offering free, downloadable digital media kits on voteforacause.com. Each kit contains promotional materials that nominees can share on their websites, social media pages, and more.
Project ORF, the first-place winner in 2025, utilized their $10,000 donation to advance their mission of bridging critical gaps in Black mental health care. Reck League, a Norfolk-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and young adults in under-resourced communities, won second place and $5,000 in last year’s contest. Pandas Fight Against Cancer, a Virginia Beach non-profit, won third place and $2,500 to support pediatric cancer families.
Vote for a Cause is one of several initiatives that Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers sponsors through its charitable initiative, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers Cares. In addition to Vote for a Cause this Spring and regular donations to community partners throughout the year, The Car Crash Experts also plan to donate $50,000 to three local schools this fall through its annual Vote for a School contest.
