Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers’ Vote for a School Contest to Award $15,000 to Hampton Roads Schools

NORFOLK, VA —August 16, 2023: To thank our local educators and acknowledge the impact of their work, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers is donating a total of $15,000 to three Hampton Roads elementary, middle, or high schools this October through its annual Vote for a School contest.

The top three public or private schools located in Hampton Roads or the Eastern Shore that receive the most votes from the community by October 17 will receive a total of $15,000 from the Norfolk-based personal injury law firm. The first-place award is $10,000, the second-place award is $3,000, and the third-place award is $2,000. The winning schools may use the funds at their discretion.

“Our community makes us great, and we feel obligated to give back,” said Jim Hurley, founding partner and injury attorney at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers.

“Most of our attorneys and staff grew up in Hampton Roads, and our children and families are better because of the dedicated schools, educators, and administrators throughout our region,” he added.

Last year, The Academy of International Studies at Rosemont brought home the top prize of $5,000 after securing the most votes from the community. Students were able to vote on how to use the donation.

At the start of the 2020-2021 school year, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers surprised Larrymore Elementary School in Norfolk with a $5,000 donation for the purchase of student laptops and Wi-Fi devices to help students learn remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic. This donation inspired the idea of Vote for a School.

Since then, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has donated tens of thousands of dollars to schools across Tidewater in its charitable mission to support education and youth-based initiatives.

Partner Bill O’Mara, a graduate of Indian River High School in Chesapeake, also recently returned to the Home of the Braves to present a $2,500 scholarship to a deserving senior on behalf of the firm.

To nominate a school to receive the $10,000, $3,000, and $2,000 awards from Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, Hampton Roads residents should visit voteforaschool.com. Voting ends on October 17, and the winners of Vote for a School will be announced on the firm’s Facebook page on October 27.

As Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers helps those injured in car, truck, and motorcycle accidents as well as other serious injury and wrongful death claims, the firm will continue to give Hampton Roads the support it deserves.
