NORFOLK, VA — May 20, 2026: Personal injury law firm Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers is
pleased to announce the winners of its annual Vote for a Cause initiative. The announcement
was made during a live media conference held May 15 at the firm’s headquarters in Downtown
Norfolk.
This spring, the Hampton Roads community cast a total of 6,432 votes for 662 different
nominated nonprofit organizations. The three local non-profits receiving the most support will
share a total of $17,500 in donations from “The Car Crash Experts” to further their missions in
the community.
The 2026 Vote for a Cause Winners are:
1st Place ($10,000): Suffolk Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Suffolk)
For 60 years, this organization has focused on the wellbeing of the Suffolk community through
their programs and events, which promote educational development, economic development,
international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness
and involvement. The local Suffolk chapter follows the direction of our Grand Chapter and the
Sensational South Atlantic Region, where the theme is “We Are Better Together”. Visit

2nd Place ($5,000): Pandas Fight Against Cancer (Virginia Beach)
Pandas Fight Against Cancer started with founder PJ Reed, nicknamed Panda. He started
giving back in 2015 by holding fundraisers for his birthday and donating the money to a local
cancer patient. Pandas Fight Against Cancer became a 501© 3 nonprofit organization in
January of 2020. Their mission is to provide direct financial relief and hope to families battling
cancer, ensuring that funds go directly into the hands of those in need. Selling of merchandise is
the main way they generate money as a nonprofit organization to donate to the families in need.

3rd Place ($2,500): SUFF. Impact (Suffolk)
SUFF. Impact empowers youth through education, mentorship and community engagement,
fostering a safe and supportive environment where they can thrive. They work with the local
community to strive to break the cycle of violence and inspire hope, resilience, and positive

“We started the Vote for a Cause initiative in 2019 as a cornerstone of our Cooper Hurley Injury
Lawyers Cares program,” said Partner Griffin O’Hanlon. “It’s a powerful way for the community
to highlight the worthy causes that make a tangible impact on their everyday lives. We are
honored to support these three incredible organizations”.
Partner Griff O’Hanlon presented the checks at the firm’s Norfolk office on Friday May 15. Vote
for a Cause is one of several annual community efforts hosted by Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers
Cares, including: 2026 Billboard Sponsorship, which provides free billboard space across
Hampton Roads to two local nonprofit organizations each quarter to help raise awareness of
their missions and expand their reach; and the upcoming Vote for a School contest, which will
donate an additional $17,500 to local schools this fall.
