NORFOLK, VA – July 8, 2025: Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers is proud to announce that Partner Griffin O’Hanlon was officially sworn in as President of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association (NPBA). The installation took place during the NPBA’s Annual Meeting, held at the Norfolk Yacht & Country Club, an event that brings together attorneys, judges, and community leaders from across the region.
Griffin assumes this prestigious role after serving as President-Elect during the 2024–2025 term. His leadership marks a continuation of the Association’s long-standing commitment to fostering professionalism, civility, and service within the legal community.
Founded in 1900, the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association has served as a pillar of the legal profession in Hampton Roads for over a century. Its membership includes licensed attorneys, judges, legal administrators, law students, and members of the military legal community. The Association promotes the highest standards of legal practice, encourages collaboration among its members, and supports ongoing education and outreach efforts.
Reflecting on the importance of the Association’s work, O’Hanlon emphasized the value of strong relationships between attorneys and the judiciary. “The NPBA helps facilitate relationships between lawyers and judges,” said O’Hanlon. “It is always beneficial to have a good working relationship between lawyers—the bar—and judges—the bench. It is of vital importance to the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association that we maintain a collegial and respectful working environment.”

Under O’Hanlon’s leadership, the NPBA will continue its focus on public service and education. In addition to professional development and legal advocacy, the Association actively supports community outreach initiatives. “We strive to serve not only the legal profession but the communities of Norfolk and Portsmouth,” he added. “We educate the public on the law, provide resources for Norfolk Public Schools, and create programs that introduce young students to the justice system and the legal profession. These efforts help foster a greater understanding of the law and inspire future generations of attorneys.”
Griffin O’Hanlon’s appointment is a testament to his dedication to the legal profession and the local community. As a partner at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, he has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to advocacy, ethics, and service—values that will guide him in his new role as President of the NPBA.
