NORFOLK, VA — December 20, 2024: As temperatures drop and the holiday season approaches, many young students in the Hampton Roads region face the winter without proper warm clothing. Recognizing this need, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers stepped in to help, donating 100 warm winter coats to students at Carver Elementary School in Newport News.
Earlier this month, Attorney Griff O’Hanlon and several team members, representing the Norfolk-based personal injury law firm, visited Carver Elementary to personally deliver the coats. The team not only distributed the winter gear but also assisted students in trying on their coats to ensure a perfect fit.
Carver Elementary Principal TaNesha Williams expressed her gratitude, noting the importance of community support during the colder months, “Often times during the winter months, one of the biggest challenges that our students have is being supplied with adequate or proper clothing to combat the weather. That includes coats, sweaters, hats, mittens. That is why we’re so thankful that y’all came out here today.”
Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers remains deeply invested in the 757 community, focusing on youth and education-based initiatives throughout the region. “We believe in giving back to the community that has supported us for so many years”, shared Cassidy Lewis. “Seeing the smiles on students’ faces as they received their coats reminds us why this work is so important.”
Carver Elementary benefits from the generosity of several community partners who assist with food, clothing, and housing. However, the school is always looking for additional support to help its students thrive.
