Sonja is a native of Suffolk, where her family roots remain strong. She initially pursued a career in nursing, serving as a CNA and working with seniors diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia in Virginia Beach.
Her dedication to serving the community led her to law enforcement, where she worked with the Crime Prevention Unit as the first satellite station officer for Old Dominion University and its surrounding communities. She later continued her service as a field training officer (FTO), mentoring new recruits.
Sonja remained committed to helping others by transitioning back into healthcare as a Program Activities Assistant in an assisted living community and later as an assistant manager in a senior living community.
Now, as a legal receptionist at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, she continues her passion for serving the community while enjoying the strong sense of family within the firm.
