Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers Wins “Best Law Firm” of Virginia Beach and Norfolk Award

After almost three decades, most Hampton Roads residents are familiar with The Virginian-Pilot’s prestigious Best of awards. The accolades have named the most popular businesses in Tidewater for years. This year, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers won gold for “Best Law Firm” in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

The Best of awards, formally known as The Virginian-Pilot’s People’s Choice Award, allows people to nominate their favorite businesses and to vote for them in a poll. With just under 200 categories for each city, there are many ways for businesses to promote their services and to encourage people to vote for them.

The awards run in The Virginian-Pilot, Daily Press, and Virginia Gazette. The distinctive Best of banners are familiar across Hampton Roads and have become synonymous with a sign of quality. The awards marked their 28th anniversary in 2021.

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has now been voted “Best Law Firm” in Norfolk by Pilot readers and its friends in the community for four years in a row. The firm has won the “Best Law Firm” accolade in Virginia Beach for the second successive year. The Norfolk-based personal injury firm was featured in a special winners’ edition of the Pilot in August.

The partners, attorneys, and staff are delighted that their hard work for their clients, along with their support of great initiatives in the community, has again been recognized.

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has expanded rapidly since the firm was launched a decade ago by experienced injury lawyers John Cooper and Jim Hurley. The firm now has four partners, four attorneys, and one ‘of counsel’ practitioner who represent people who are hurt in automobile accidents, the families of wrongful death victims, and people hurt by dangerous drugs and products in both Virginia and North Carolina. They also help railroad workers who end up injured on the job and people who suffer traumatic brain injuries. Many of the attorneys and staff have deep roots in Hampton Roads and the wider Virginia community.

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers is active in supporting many great causes across the community every month. They believe in giving back to the community at every available opportunity. In recent years, they have supported young people and schools through its Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers Cares program, which has committed over $200,000 to the community since 2019.

The firm recently awarded scholarships of $2,000 each to five local students and one national winner in our Focused Driver awards. The students submitted essays that highlighted the hazards of distracted driving and other dangerous behaviors behind the wheel.

The winners were Parish Thompson from Newport News, Jasmine Purchas from Virginia Beach, Gabrielle Parker from Smithfield, Carley Keurajian from Williamsburg, and Bailey Jones of Suffolk. Madison Milton, a rising third year student at the University of Tampa in Florida, is the national winner.

As well as being regular winners in the Best of awards, the attorneys at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers have won many national awards and accolades in their professional lives. This fall, the firm was selected as a 2021 Coastal Virginia Magazine Giving Back Awards honoree. Attorneys John Cooper, Jim Hurley, Bill O’Mara, Griffin O’Hanlon, and John Baker were also named 2022 “Top Lawyers of Coastal Virginia” by CoVa BIZ Magazine.
