Meet Tom Burris | Senior Associate Attorney at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers

My name is Tom Burris. I’m a senior associate attorney over here at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers. I’ve been practicing law for 35 years here in Virginia.
After college, I knew I wanted to come back and practice in Virginia in the place I grew up. And so I went to University of Richmond Law School. And I started practicing in 1991.
At the start of my career, my first job I worked for the Legal Aid Society of Virginia. It was a great experience for me and showed me a side of things that I really hadn’t seen before and I found it really rewarding. I did that for a year or so and then I started practicing personal injury law and I’ve kind of done that ever since, based here in Tidewater.
I’ve always enjoyed helping people, standing up for them, and helping them face various challenges. And, you know, if you think about it, that’s what happens in every car accident case. It’s you against a big name insurance company. In their mind, you’re either not hurt or not hurt as bad as you say you are, or you’re hurt, but just not from that accident.
When I get involved, I feel like I kind of help level the playing field a little bit. And I look forward to doing that kind of work every day when I come in here at Cooper Hurley.
