Who Pays the Medical Bills After an Accident?
Video Transcript
When you’re hurt in a car accident in Virginia, and you have medical bills, it’s unbelievably important to have your health insurance (if you have health insurance) pay for those medical bills. People often think, “Not my fault, why should I use my health insurance?” and the reason you want to use your health insurance if you have it is ’cause at the end of the day, we can put more money in your pocket, and that’s the key thing. If you don’t have health insurance, then we can arrange to go ahead and take care of your medical bills down the road. And oftentimes in a situation like that, we realize that it’s important to get the treatment so we can contact the health care providers that are treating you and come to some arrangement to eventually pay that bill. What you want to be sure of is at the end of the day after we’ve helped you out and after there’s a settlement and/or a verdict, that all your medical bills are taken care of– that’s the most important thing.
The other most important thing is you want to be sure to get the proper medical treatment for your injuries. There’s a lot of people that we help here at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, and when they first touch base with us they say, “I’m not really that hurt,” and then we get in their case and they’ll say to us, “Hey, I thought I really wasn’t that hurt, but for some reason my neck injury and my back injury– it’s not going away, and I’m having some other issues.” Here at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers we’re always firm believers that you want to get the proper medical treatment and that you want to, go ahead and get it done when you need it– that if you go ahead and you think, “I’ve got a serious injury with my neck or back but I’m going to tough it out, I’m not going to seek any medical treatment” and then 6 months down the road, oh my gosh you can barely walk because you have an issue with your neck or your back– we don’t want that. We want you to get the proper medical treatment at the proper time, so we’re always encouraging people to reach out to their family doctor if they’re having issues. That family doctor can refer them to a specialist, ’cause you want get back to feeling as good as you can under the circumstances. [jingle] No need to worry, call Cooper Hurley.
