What Is Medical Payments Coverage?
Medical payments coverage is also known as medical benefits coverage or medical expense coverage. This optional coverage on your auto policy allows for the payment of some medical bills when you are injured in a motor vehicle accident as a driver or passenger. When you use med pay, the defendant’s insurer is still responsible for the full amount of the bills as if you did not have the coverage.
Medical payment coverage can reimburse you for medical bills associated with an injury from a car accident, regardless of who is at fault for the accident. You paid for this coverage, so use it if you have it.
Please note that this medical payment coverage applies even if you have health insurance coverage that also covers your medical bills and, unfortunately, many people do not even know they have this coverage. They never inquire about possible reimbursement of their medical bills.
If you have multiple vehicles on a policy, then most of the time, the medical expense coverage will multiply by the number of vehicles on the policy. So if you have two vehicles on the policy and you have $1,000 of medical payment coverage, you actually have up to $2,000 in reimbursement coverage for your medical bills.
Med pay is a really good deal for the consumer and can be bought for very little premium dollars. To better understand how medical payments coverage works, call Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers to speak with our team.
