Skateboarder, 16, is Hit and Killed on Virginia Beach Boulevard

A skateboarder who was hit by a car in Virginia Beach has died of his injuries, according to police.
WAVY.com reported on how police are investigating the circumstances in which the 16-year-old skateboarder was hit by a vehicle in Virginia Beach Saturday night.
He was struck crossing the 4000 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard at Stepney Lane at the crosswalk, according to MPO James Cason with the Virginia Beach Police Department. My thoughts are with the family of this young man who died in tragic circumstances.
Cason said in a press release that all “eastbound vehicles on Virginia Beach Boulevard had green lights. “A driver in the left turn lane stopped short of striking the victim. Another driver in one of the straight lanes struck the victim as he crossed into the path of travel for that vehicle,” Cason said.
The teenager was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries. Cason confirmed he had died on Tuesday. Police said speed and alcohol were not factors in this crash. No charges have been brought at the present time.
When pedestrians, cyclists or skateboarders are knocked over and killed their family members may have grounds to bring a wrongful death lawsuit. For more details call Cooper Hurley at 757.455.0077.
