School Bus Hits HRT Bus in Norfolk, Injuring Seven

I was concerned to read TV reports today about a crash between a school bus and an HRT bus in Norfolk that sent seven people to a local hospital.
WAVY.com reported that first responders went to the scene of an accident on N. Military Highway at Norvella Avenue at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday
The TV station beamed images from its helicopter that showed a school bus that appeared to have rear-ended the HRT bus while it was stopped.
Tom Holden, a spokesman for Hampton Roads Transit, told the channel that five people on the HRT bus and two adults from the school bus were transported to the hospital. There was no immediate information available about their condition.
My thoughts are with those who were injured in this crash. I hope they make a speedy recovery.
Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers has written at length about crashes caused by school bus drivers.
This appears to be another instance in which a school bus driver was culpable, although police have not issued a formal statement on the wreck or made any charges as yet.
Norfolk police later said three people were on the school bus. There were no children. The bus was heading to pick up children at the Academy of International Studies at Rosemont. Images from the WAVY chopper showed the bus involved in the crash was #372.
Serious School Bus Crashes in Hampton Roads
Recently, Virginia Beach schools made a wrongful death settlement to the widow of a sailor who was knocked down and killed by a school bus on Holland Road in Virginia Beach.
In Hampton, a driver was killed in a wreck with a school bus on Settlers Landing Road. The 61-year-old school bus driver was later charged with reckless driving.
I am concerned about the large number of accidents involving school buses in Hampton Roads. While school bus drivers have not been the at-fault party in all of them, they have in many instances.
In some cities such as Portsmouth, schools have experienced a shortage of bus drivers that has disrupted services. We trust school bus drivers with the safety of our kids, but they are not all reaching the high standards that are expected.
