Pradaxa Claims on the Rise for Bleeding and Death Side Effects.
Pradaxa (dabigatran) is an oral anticoagulant developed by the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Pradaxa for use in 2010. In late 2011, the FDA announced it was investigating reports of serious hemorrhaging among Pradaxa users.
Pradaxa is a blood thinner that inhibits an enzyme in the blood involved in clotting. After being on the market for a while, Pradaxa is now being associated with internal bleeding that is sometimes fatal. There are also other harmful side effects resulting from Pradaxa usage including; Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, Brain hemorrhaging; and Death from “bleeding out”.
Pradaxa is an alternate to warfarin to prevent strokes associated with atrial fibrillation.. Warfarin has an antidote that can stop internal bleeding and preventing it from being fatal, however Pradaxa does not have this and internal bleeding is more often fatal. Risk studies show that 15% of all Pradaxa users may suffer from internal hemorrhaging .
If a drug is to blame because of harmful and fatal side effect, there may be grounds for a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit. We can help you sort out if your family has a valid claim about this dangerous drug.
