Pickup Truck Driver Dies in Head-On Collision with Tractor Trailer in the Isle of Wight
A pickup truck driver from Carrsville has lost his life in a crash on an Isle of Wight County roadway early Friday morning.
WAVY.com reported Sgt. Michelle Anaya of the Virginia State Police said the wreck occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Route 258, which is also known as Courthouse Highway. A Nissan pickup truck traveling north crossed the center line, hitting a Kenworth tractor-trailer head-on. The tractor-trailer was carrying grease from the packing plant in Smithfield.
I was saddened to read that the driver of the truck, Martin Johnson, 50, of Carrsville, died in the crash. My thoughts are with his family.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was injured. He was transported to Riverside Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, WAVY reported.
Route 258, also called Courthouse Highway, was closed down in both directions between Scotts Factory Road and Bob White Road. It was reopened by 9 a.m.
