North Carolina Injury Lawyer Report : Was Boy, 9 Killed in a Crash Caused by Racing in Rockingham, NC?
From time to time I report on crashes caused by an ultimate act of recklessness; namely that of racing.
Police in North Carolina (NC) are looking into whether a car was racing another vehicle when it crashed into a car, killing a 9-year-old-boy.
My thoughts are with the family of the 9-year-old boy who surely have a good case to bring a wrongful death lawsuit over this terrible crash in Rockingham.
Associated Press reported the boy died after his car was hit on December 8, 2012 on Highway 74. The boy’s grandmother was driving the car. She has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Family members told the news channel WSOC-TV that the pair had just left the grandmother’s apartment when they were struck.
Rockingham Police Chief Billy Kelly says authorities had information that two cars “may have been racing” before one of them hit the grandmother’s car. While police are interviewing the drivers no charges have yet been brought.
In September 2012, I reported how two drivers were charged with racing in Virginia Beach after an accident ended with injuries.
Although these kinds of accidents are rare, they can be devastating and are completely avoidable and inexcusable.
