Norfolk, VA Car Accident Lawyer Report : Driver is Killed in Norfolk Shortly After a Police Chase
Norfolk Police are trying to establish the cause of a deadly crash which occurred shortly after a police chase in the city
Karen Parker-Chesson with the Norfolk Police Department, said officers “spotted a vehicle speeding along Ocean View Avenue around 2:15 a.m. on January 11, 2012, WAVY.com reported.
As an experienced Norfolk car accident injury lawyer, I see many crashes caused by excess speed. Police are trying to establish if excess speed and alcohol were factors in this wreck.

When police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, a brief pursuit ensued.
“The pursuit was quickly disengaged when the vehicle pulled away from officers,” Parker-Chesson told WAVY.com.
A short time after the pursuit, the vehicle was traveling along East Little Creek Road when it hit another vehicle and traveled into Virginia Beach. The two people in that vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries. Parker-Chesson said the driver re-entered Norfolk on East Little Creek Road, lost control of his car and struck at tree at Shore Drive.
The driver was later identified as Eric Ahmed-Zahrani Johnson, 28 of Norfolk. He was killed at the scene. The driver was the only person in the car.
Although this driver was not being actively chased by police at the time of the crash he may have been driving recklessly in a bid to elude them. I have reported on a number of fatal car crashes during police chases including the death of a young man from Portsmouth in a fiery wreck following a police chase in the Isle of Wight.
I have also reported on motorists who have been hurt or killed when hit by cars eluding the police. These drivers may have a case to bring a claim against the driver’s insurance policy.
