Norfolk, VA Brain Injury Lawyer Report – Virginia Woman Receives Award for Traumatic Brain Injury Work
When Patricia Wilkins Harrison’s son suffered a severe traumatic brain injury 22 years ago as a result of a car accident, she found there was little support in the Harrisonburg community for victims of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).
As experienced Norfolk, VA brain injury attorneys it’s a scenario we see all too often. After experiencing a severe brain injury, there are often few places for those who are struggling to come to terms with their injury and the families, to turn.

Feeling unhappy about the situation, Harrison decided to do something about it. In 2003, she recruited a small group of like-minded people for a meeting and set up the Greater Shenandoah Valley Brain Injury Support Group.
The group prospered due to her work. Its mission is to raise awareness about brain injury and prevention.
In 2005, Harrison helped set up Crossroads to Brain Injury Recovery, a nonprofit organization that aims to improve the quality of life for people who are affected by brain injury.
The Augusta Free Press reported that Harrison has been presented with the annual Weinstock Award by the Brain Injury Association of Virginia at its11th annual conference.
Our Norfolk brain injury lawyers are happy to see Mrs. Harrison receive this award after all of her hard work on behalf of her son.
No matter what causes TBI, the consequences are very often life altering. Medical expenses, an inability to work, an impacted quality of life, and pain and suffering can all accompany this type of injury.
If your brain injury was caused by another person’s recklessness or neglect, these losses demand justice and you should consider contacting a specialist brain injury attorney in Norfolk, VA.
