Norfolk Auto Accident Attorney Report – Three Passengers are Killed in Smyth County, VA
Three passengers have been killed in Smyth County, Virginia after a driver lost control of his car at high speed, according to police.
As an experienced Virginia wrongful death attorney, I see many cases in which passengers die in crashes. I am shocked by the circumstances of this crash that wiped out three young lives.
According to the Virginia State Police, the triple fatal crash took place on Laurel Springs Road Rt. 707 near the intersection of Cornett Road, Westofroanoke.com reported.
The driver from Christiansburg, “entered a curve at a high rate of speed, ran off the road to the right, and overturned striking a tree,” according to a state police press release. The driver was flown by Virginia State Police Med-Flight to Bristol Regional Hospital, it stated.
The three passengers who died in the Ford Fusion were.
- Sarah Beth Clark 21, of Lebanon,VA
- Richard Michael Schmidt 23, of Marion, VA
- Chelsea Leah-Jordan Altice 20, of Salem VA
The cause of the crash is unclear. Single vehicle accidents are the most common types of accident we see on the roads of Virginia.
The reasons for the crash are not known. In cases where drivers are going too fast, driving recklessly or carelessly, the families of the deceased passengers could have grounds to bring a wrongful death lawsuit.
My thoughts are with the families after this terrible accident.
