Three people were injured when a tractor trailer cab blew a tire on I-64 in Newport News, causing it to hit Chevy Cobalt.
The accident occurred at 10:30 a.m. At least one of the three people who were hurt sustained serious injuries.
WAVY.com reported the tractor trailer cab was on I-64 eastbound when it blew a tire which “caused the truck to sideswipe a Chevy Cobalt and then both vehicles struck trees in the median.”

The driver of the Chevy Cobalt was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News. There was no word on the driver’s condition on Saturday.
The crash led to the closure of two eastbound lanes of I-64 and one westbound lane, as well as a fuel spill and an eight-mile backup.
