Newport News Injury Lawyer Report – Former Smithfield High School Student Launches $50 Million Suit over School Bus Attack

School buses should be safe places for the students who travel on them.
Sadly, this does not appear to have been the case for a teenage student who was attacked by a fellow student from Smithfield High School in the Isle of Wight, three years ago.
The student, who is now 19, is suing Isle of Wight County for $50 Million in District Court in Newport News, VA, the Daily Press reported.
The action was launched approximately three years after a “fellow student beat him repeatedly in the face while riding the bus home from school,” reported the Daily Press.
The article said a 17-year-old student recorded the incident on his cell phone and posted it on YouTube.
The lawsuit is also suing the former Smithfield High School principal, former assistant principal and the bus driver who is accused of being “deliberately indifferent” to the victim’s welfare.
The suit said the driver did not immediately supply medical attention or call for an ambulance. The victim says the attack left him with permanent impairment to his vision.
An alleged failure to provide medical attention can be a cause of a lawsuit. Recently I reported on a wrongful death lawsuit against Virginia Beach correctional center over a woman who choked on her bracelet.
