Head on collisions are the most serious kind of wreck we see on the highways of Virginia. According to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials just under one in five fatal accidents are head-on collisions. However, head-on collisions comprise just two percent of wrecks overall. In other words, you are far more likely to lose your life in one of these accidents as the combined speeds of the vehicles adds to the force of the impact.
Head-on collisions may be caused by a wrong-way driver, a distracted driver or a motorist who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Usually, one driver is to blame for the wreck.
